OnitX to Onit Unity: when to move, and making your design fit Unity
OnitX customers can choose to move to Unity, the direction of Onit’s platform. OnitX remains sold and supported, so the work is deciding when, and making your design and processes fit the Unity model. Swiftwater is a certified Onit implementation partner, led by three Onit Level 4 certified practitioners. Led by Jonathan Gilman.

The choice
Your choice, and your timing.
OnitX is still sold and supported, and Swiftwater can help support it. Moving to Unity is your decision, with timing agreed with Onit. Unity is Onit’s AI-first ELM, with Spend Agent for invoice review and Ask Unity for analytics (Onit Unity).
A move pays off when the design is ready for it. That is what the review below is for. Our guide to Onit Unity covers the platform.
The review

01
Design and processes
How your OnitX configuration and processes map to the Unity model, and what should change on the way.
02
Custom functionality
What was custom-built in OnitX, and whether each piece fits natively in Unity or needs Apptitude.
03
Data and documents
Matter, vendor and invoice data cleaned so it is good to work with Onit’s AI.
04
Integrations
AP, single sign-on and every other connection checked against Unity, and adjusted.
05
People

Firms and pricing
Your law firms and your pricing.
Law firms
OnitX law firms already submit through Counsel Exchange, which Onit supports, so their portal does not change.
Pricing
Onit is priced on platform and legal spend, with no per-user pricing. CLM, legal hold and legal service requests are priced separately. See Onit pricing.

Frequently asked questions
Do OnitX customers have to move to Onit Unity?
No. OnitX is still sold and supported, and moving to Unity is your choice, with timing agreed with Onit. Swiftwater, a certified Onit implementation partner, can support OnitX in the meantime and review whether your design is ready for Unity.
What happens to custom functionality built in OnitX?
Each piece is reviewed against Unity. Some fits natively in Unity, and some is rebuilt on Apptitude, Onit’s low-code layer. We map every custom function before the move, so nothing is lost.
How do we know if our OnitX design fits Unity?
Through a design and process review: we compare your OnitX configuration, workflows and reports with the Unity model, flag what changes, and check your data and integrations. You get a clear recommendation before any work starts.
Do our law firms change portals when we move to Unity?
No. OnitX law firms already submit through Counsel Exchange, which Onit supports, so their portal stays the same.
How long does a move from OnitX to Onit Unity take?
It depends on how much custom functionality you have, your data and documents, and your integrations. We scope the timeline after the design review, so it rests on your configuration.
