Legal Tracker Pricing

Legal Tracker pricing: what drives the cost for a legal department

Thomson Reuters does not publish Legal Tracker prices. The cost comes from the license, the modules you add, and the one-time and recurring work around it: implementation, integrations, and supporting your law firms. Swiftwater implements both Legal Tracker and Onit Unity, and is a certified Onit implementation partner. Led by Hafid Karama.

    How it is priced

    How Legal Tracker is priced.

    1. 01

      Quoted per customer

There is no public price list. Thomson Reuters offers a demo and a quote through its Legal Tracker page.

    2. 02

      Users and legal spend

Legal Tracker is generally priced on the number of users and the legal spend that runs through the platform.

    3. 03

      Modules cost extra

Capabilities beyond the core platform are added as modules. Legal Tracker Advanced adds rate management, matter pricing and RFP, Westlaw-powered spend analytics and benchmarking, and AI tools for invoice conversion and matter intake.

    4. 04

      Law firm fees

Sometimes the vendor offers an add-on, or the option to charge law firms a fee, to offset part of the department’s cost. Ask whether it is available and how your firms will react.

    Legal Tracker AI

What Legal Tracker’s AI does, and where people still matter.

Thomson Reuters markets Legal Tracker AI for invoice review that detects billing anomalies, checks compliance and handles multiple formats and languages. In August 2025 it announced an AI Assistant for Legal Tracker that flags issues such as duplicates and administrative charges, and AI dashboards with natural-language questions and anomaly detection. Ask which of these your edition includes before you sign.

AI flags the issues. Someone still has to apply your billing guidelines, decide the appeals and talk to the firms. That is where managed bill review adds, run inside the eBilling platform you already own.

    Frequently asked questions

Does Thomson Reuters publish Legal Tracker pricing?

No. Thomson Reuters does not publish a price list for Legal Tracker. Pricing is quoted per customer after a demo, and Legal Tracker is generally priced on the number of users and the legal spend that runs through the platform, with modules priced separately.

    What is Legal Tracker Advanced?

Legal Tracker Advanced is the Thomson Reuters edition that adds rate management, matter pricing and RFP, Westlaw-powered spend analytics and benchmarking, an AI PDF-to-LEDES converter, AI matter intake from Outlook, and Industry Insights dashboards.

Does Legal Tracker review bills with AI?

Yes. Thomson Reuters markets Legal Tracker AI for invoice review that detects billing anomalies and checks compliance, and announced an AI Assistant in 2025 that flags issues such as duplicates and administrative charges. Your billing guidelines, appeals and law firm conversations still need people, which is where managed bill review adds.

What costs are there beyond the Legal Tracker license?

Implementation is a required one-time cost. Integrations with your accounts payable system and single sign-on are mandatory, with a one-time cost and recurring maintenance, and other integrations are added as required. Law firms are onboarded into your own instance, so supporting them is ongoing work for your team, along with administration and reporting.

Is it cheaper to stay on Legal Tracker or move to another platform?

It depends on what you need beyond eBilling, your volumes, and the cost of migration. Compare the full cost of each option: the license plus implementation, integrations and law firm support. We implement both Legal Tracker and Onit Unity, so we can lay the two side by side.
